As a Missouri wedding photographer, every couple’s story unfolds a little differently in front of the lens. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a truly remarkable celebration — a colorful garden party wedding filled with vintage-inspired film tones, joyful moments, and quite possibly the happiest bride on the planet.
Set against a backdrop of blooming florals by the ever-talented Fleur Florals and bathed in warm sunlight, this day was more than just a beautiful wedding. It was a celebration of love, faith, and the community that surrounded this incredible couple.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement. The venue, Sons and Daughters, offered the perfect blank canvas for the day’s vibrant details and heartfelt moments to shine. Every element reflected the personalities of the bride and groom — joyful, intentional, and deeply meaningful.
The couple chose to incorporate both film and digital photography throughout their wedding day. Film allowed us to capture the softness and nostalgic beauty of their portraits, while digital ensured every fleeting moment and small detail was preserved. The combination created a gallery that felt both timeless and alive with emotion.
The ceremony itself was especially meaningful. Subtle moments of faith were woven throughout the service, reflecting the couple’s shared love for Jesus and the foundation their relationship is built upon. From their vows to the heartfelt prayers spoken by loved ones, every moment carried a sense of reverence and joy. It was an honor to witness and document such sacred moments. Have I mentioned how renewing to my soul it is to photograph Christian couples?!
I also had the pleasure of working alongside Willow Layne Films from Colorado, who brought such warmth and creativity to the day. Collaborating with other passionate artists always makes a wedding day even more special.
One of my favorite parts of the day was the portrait session with the couple. Shooting these moments on film added a timeless quality to their images, highlighting the softness of the light and the romance of the setting. The bride’s radiant smile and the groom’s quiet admiration for her spoke volumes about the love they share. And the bride’s stunning gown from Evermore Bridal in Springfield, Missouri was truly the perfect finishing touch.
As the evening continued, the celebration only grew more joyful. The first dance, the father-daughter dance, the mother-son dance, and the anniversary dance all brought laughter, tears, and heartfelt moments to the dance floor.
Reflecting on this day reminds me why I fell in love with wedding photography in the first place. It isn’t just about creating beautiful images — it’s about preserving the moments that matter most. The quiet ones, the joyful ones, and the ones that tell the story of a couple beginning their life together.
This colorful garden party wedding was a perfect blend of elegance, faith, and celebration, and it was such an honor to document it all.
