Colorful Garden Party Wedding in Rolla, Missouri
As a wedding photographer, every couple has a story waiting to be told through the lens. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing a truly remarkable celebration: a colorful garden party wedding that blended the charm of vintage film colors and the happiest bride on the planet! Set against a backdrop of blooming flowers (by the ever-so-talented, Fleur Florals) and under a sun-kissed sky, this day was not just about vows exchanged, but a testament to love, faith, and community.
From the moment I arrived, the air was filled with anticipation and joy. The venue, Sons and Daughters, provided a beautiful blank slate to capture the vibrant personalities of the bride and groom. Their decision to incorporate elements of both film and digital photography allowed me to capture the essence of their day in a way that was both nostalgic and contemporary.
The ceremony itself was a testament to their faith, with subtle nods to their shared love for Jesus woven throughout. Each moment seemed to be so thoughtful, from the exchange of vows to the heartfelt prayers offered by loved ones. As a photographer, it was a privilege to witness and document these sacred moments. It was even better getting to work alongside Willow Layne Films from Colorado. She is an absolute treasure and joy to work with!
One of the highlights of the day was the couple’s portrait session! Shooting on film added a timeless quality to these images, while digital photography ensured that we captured every detail with clarity and precision. The bride’s radiant smile and the groom’s adoring gaze spoke volumes about their deep connection, making my job as a storyteller all the more fulfilling. As the festivities continued into the evening, it got more fun and exciting as each special event unfolded– the first dance, mother-son dance, father-daughter dance, and even the anniversary dance! Each frame captured on film seemed to preserve not just images, but emotions—a fleeting glance, a shared laugh, a tender embrace—all bathed in the warm hues of sunset shining in through the venue’s big windows.
Reflecting on this experience, I am reminded of why I fell in love with wedding photography in the first place. It’s not just about capturing beautiful images, but about preserving memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
